Are you a licensed tour operator in Sri Lanka?

Yes. Serendib & Co is registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, the national body that licenses and regulates tour operators and travel agents on the island. We are a destination management company, which means we are not reselling someone else's programme — we design your journey and operate it ourselves with our own team.

Who will be driving and guiding me?

A chauffeur-guide we have chosen individually and worked with over many journeys. They hold national guiding licences, speak fluent English, drive modern air-conditioned vehicles maintained to our standard, and know the island well enough to reshape a day around weather, traffic or a change of mood. We do not take drivers from an agency pool, and we do not rotate a stranger into your trip at the last minute.

How do you choose the hotels?

We have visited them. Our relationships with the island's best tea bungalows, coastal villas, tented camps and city hotels are direct and long-standing — often with the owners or general managers themselves. That is what gets you the right room rather than the last room, a quiet corner at dinner, a late check-out on your final day, and a phone call answered when something needs fixing.

What happens if something goes wrong while I am travelling?

You call us, and a Sri Lankan team already on the island deals with it — not an overseas call centre reading a script. A missed connection, a road closed by rain, a hotel that did not get something right: we re-route, re-book and follow it through. You have a direct number and WhatsApp for the whole journey.

Do I still need travel insurance?

Yes, and we would say the same to our own family. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical care, cancellation, baggage and trip interruption should be taken out from the day you book, whoever you travel with. We are happy to point you towards specialist underwriters who handle long-haul luxury travel properly.

How do you handle payments?

You receive a written itinerary and a clear, itemised quote in pounds or dollars before anything is paid. A deposit confirms your dates and rooms; the balance is due before travel. Every payment, every inclusion and every exclusion is set out in writing, and we will always tell you plainly what is not included.
