10 nights — the essentials route
Cultural triangle (Sigiriya, Dambulla, optional Anuradhapura), one night Kandy, two nights tea country with the Ella train, one night Yala safari, four nights south coast beach. The shortest itinerary that still feels complete.
12 nights — the sweet spot
Add a second tea-country night (Ceylon Tea Trails or Nine Skies), a second safari night for sunrise + sunset drives, and an extra beach day to actually exhale. The pacing our planners recommend most often.
14 nights — the grand tour
Open up Galle Fort properly, add a wellness day at Santani or Ulagalla, and finish with five nights on the south coast at Cape Weligama or Anantara Peace Haven. Helicopter transfers between two or three legs cut a full day of road time.

How many days do I need in Sri Lanka from the UK?+
Ten nights is the realistic minimum for a first-time UK visitor — flight time eats two days. Twelve to fourteen is the sweet spot, opening up tea country, safari and a proper beach finish.
What is the best 10-day Sri Lanka itinerary?+
Colombo → Sigiriya & Dambulla (2n) → Kandy & tea country (2n) → Yala safari (1n) → South coast beach (4n). Private chauffeur throughout, optional helicopter transfers to compress travel days.
Is 14 days too long for Sri Lanka?+
Not at all. Two weeks lets you add Galle Fort, Ceylon Tea Trails or a wellness retreat without cutting the cultural triangle short. Most of our luxury enquiries land between 12 and 16 nights.
