Why Sri Lanka works for German travellers
Sri Lanka sits within easy reach of Germany — a single connection via Doha, Dubai or Istanbul delivers you to Colombo overnight. The island compresses extraordinary variety into 200 miles: tea country, leopard safari, UNESCO heritage, Ayurveda and a coastline of cliffside villas.
Your euros stretch considerably further than in the Maldives or French Polynesia, and the December–March dry season aligns precisely with the German Weihnachts- and Osterferien.
Best months from a German calendar
Weihnachten and Silvester are peak luxury weeks on the south coast — reserve nine months ahead. February and March are our quietest, sunniest months. Ostern remains in the dry window, while Pfingsten edges into the green season with excellent value at five-star properties.
What a luxury journey costs
Land-only pricing (excluding international flights) typically runs €500–€1,600 per person per night. A 10-night Ultra Luxury private journey for two sits between €9,000 and €14,000 per couple. Qatar Airways Q-suite from Frankfurt is approximately €3,400 return; Emirates business class from Munich €3,000–€4,200 depending on season.

Common questions
How do I fly from Germany to Sri Lanka?+
Qatar Airways via Doha, Emirates via Dubai and Turkish Airlines via Istanbul all connect Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf and Berlin to Colombo in 13–15 hours door-to-door. SriLankan Airlines codeshares on several of these routes.
When is the best time for German travellers to visit Sri Lanka?+
November through March aligns with the German winter and dry season on the south and west coasts and the cultural triangle. Easter holidays and Pfingsten (Whitsun) are also excellent windows. We avoid the south-west monsoon (May–September) for beach stays.
Do I need a visa from Germany?+
Yes — a Sri Lanka ETA is required for German passport holders, currently around €45, issued online within 24 hours. We share the link and assist with the application after booking.
What does a luxury Sri Lanka holiday cost from Germany?+
Land-only pricing typically starts at €5,000 per person for 10 nights at four-to-five-star private villas with a chauffeur. Ultra-luxury fortnights at Aman, Cape Weligama or Ceylon Tea Trails range €9,000–€16,000 per person. International flights are quoted separately.
Do you have German-speaking guides?+
On request we arrange certified German-speaking national guides for the cultural triangle and city tours. Your dedicated concierge and all written planning are in fluent English.
Is Sri Lanka safe for German travellers in 2026?+
Yes — Auswärtiges Amt travel advice is routine. Tourism has fully recovered, and we monitor the situation daily, brief clients before departure and provide a 24/7 in-country concierge.
