Ella is a hill-country village in Sri Lanka's Uva Province, about 1,040m above sea level and roughly 6 hours by road from Colombo (200km) or 3 hours from Kandy. Most travellers arrive on the Kandy–Ella train — six to seven hours through the tea estates, and the reason most people come. Two to three nights is the right stay: Nine Arches Bridge at dawn, Little Adam's Peak before breakfast, and long afternoons on a tea-estate terrace.

Luxury Ella honeymoon
Ella is the hill-country half of almost every Sri Lanka honeymoon we design. Couples come for cool nights, mist over the valley at dawn and a tea-estate bungalow with nobody else on the lawn — usually two or three nights between Kandy and the south coast.
