Yala National Park is on the south-east coast, 300km from Colombo — about 5 hours by road, or 3 hours from Galle. It holds the densest leopard population in the world, best seen in Block 1 on a private dawn game drive. Entry is roughly USD 40 per adult plus jeep and tracker; February to July is the driest and best. Two nights gives you four game drives, which is what it takes.

A private Yala tour means your own jeep, your own tracker and the freedom to sit with a sighting instead of moving on. We also route around the park's annual September–October closure.

Private 4x4 with a naturalist for morning (5.30am) and afternoon drives.
Block 1 for leopards, Block 5 for solitude — chosen on the day.
Park fees and permits handled in advance.
Drive times: Tangalle 1 hr 30, Galle 3 hrs, Ella 3 hrs, Colombo 5 hrs (25 mins by helicopter).
