The short answer
A luxury private Sri Lanka holiday from the UK costs roughly £3,200 per person for 7 nights, £4,800 for 10 nights and £8,500 for 14 nights — land-only, based on two travellers sharing a room at four- and five-star hotels.
Add £700–£950 per person for economy flights from Heathrow on SriLankan Airlines (direct, 10h 30m), or £2,200–£3,400 in business. Bundle them with us and the whole package is ATOL-protected.
What the price actually buys you
Every Serendib Sri Lanka holiday includes hand-picked luxury hotels (Ceylon Tea Trails, Cape Weligama, Amanwella, Water Garden Sigiriya — that level), a private English-speaking chauffeur-guide in an air-conditioned vehicle for the duration of your trip, all internal transfers (including reserved first-class carriages on the Kandy–Ella train), daily breakfast, and at least one signature experience per region.
Signature experiences are the moments that turn a trip into a story: a dawn climb at Sigiriya with a historian, a private blue-whale charter from Mirissa, a cooking class in a Galle Fort townhouse, a candlelit tasting at a working tea estate.
Where the money goes
Roughly 60% of the land cost is accommodation — luxury hotels in Sri Lanka run £350–£1,400 per night, with Ceylon Tea Trails and ANI at the top end. About 20% is your private chauffeur, vehicle and fuel for the duration. The remaining 20% covers experiences, park fees, train tickets and our 24/7 concierge.
The biggest cost lever is hotel choice. Drop one or two nights from Aman to a Resplendent Ceylon property and the same itinerary lands £600–£1,200 cheaper per person without changing the shape of the trip.
Seasonal pricing for UK travellers
Peak (Christmas, New Year, February half-term, Easter): expect quoted prices plus 15–25%. Shoulder (early December, March, mid-October to mid-November): the sweet spot — great weather, headline prices. Green season (May, June, September): the lowest prices, occasional afternoon downpours on the south coast but excellent value, particularly for honeymooners.
Is a Sri Lanka holiday worth the cost?
Compared to a luxury week in the Maldives (£6,500+ for one resort), the same money buys ten nights in Sri Lanka with tea country, safari, beach and a sole-use villa — all with a private driver. For British travellers wanting variety and depth over a single resort, it's exceptional value.
