Catamaran Sailing

A traditional outrigger sailed by an old fisherman, on a sundowner schedule.

The story

Traditional wooden outrigger catamarans — once Sri Lanka's working fishing fleet — are now sailed for sunset along the south coast. We arrange private charters from Bentota, Mirissa or Weligama, with sundowners and a small platter on board.

Where can I sail a catamaran in Sri Lanka?+

Bentota for the river-mouth sail, Mirissa for the open sea, Weligama for the gentlest bay.

Is catamaran sailing safe for non-sailors?+

Yes — these are stable working boats, sailed by lifelong fishermen.
