Best 5-star hotels
in Negombo.
Our 2026 edit of the best luxury and five-star hotels in Negombo, Sri Lanka — independently reviewed, with rates and alternatives.
Negombo sits twenty minutes from the international airport — a working fishing town with a long beach, a fish market that runs at dawn, and a string of comfortable beach hotels that suit a single arrival or departure night.
Best time: Year-round. How many nights: 1 night.

#1 · Jetwing
Jetwing Beach Negombo
Jetwing Beach is the obvious answer to the first-or-last-night-Negombo question. 78 rooms on a stretch of Negombo beach, 20 minutes from Bandaranaike airport, with a serious infinity pool and the strongest restaurant in town. Use for one night before flying onward, not as a destination in its own right.
From £180/night

#2 · Teardrop Hotels
The Wallawwa
The Wallawwa is the boutique alternative to a beach hotel for the first or last night — a restored 200-year-old manor on a private garden, ten minutes from Bandaranaike. Eighteen rooms, an extraordinarily good breakfast, the kind of place that resets a traveller after a long-haul flight. Used by most discerning luxury operators as the default arrival hotel.
From £260/night

#3 · Jetwing
Jetwing Lagoon
Jetwing Lagoon was originally designed by Geoffrey Bawa in 1965 — the first of his hotel commissions, and an essential piece of Sri Lankan architectural history. The 100-metre pool stretches the length of the property, opening onto the lagoon. Quieter and more architectural than Jetwing Beach.
From £160/night

#4 · Negombo
Grandeeza Luxury Hotel
Grandeeza is a newer entry on the Negombo strip — 32 rooms with strong pool views, opened post-pandemic. Not luxury in the Jetwing or Wallawwa sense, but well-priced for an airport-adjacent first night.
From £95/night
