Best 5-star hotels
in Yala.
Our 2026 edit of the best luxury and five-star hotels in Yala, Sri Lanka — independently reviewed, with rates and alternatives.
Yala National Park holds the world's highest density of leopards. Done well — with a private naturalist, in a low-density zone, in a tented camp — it is among the most refined safari experiences in Asia.
Best time: February to July. How many nights: 2 nights.

#1 · Resplendent Ceylon (Relais & Châteaux)
Wild Coast Tented Lodge
Wild Coast is the most architecturally ambitious luxury tented camp in Asia. Twenty-eight cocoon-style suites sit on the border between Yala National Park and the Indian Ocean — wake to leopards in the dawn and the surf at dusk. The Resplendent service standard is the same as Tea Trails and Cape Weligama. Pair with two nights at Cape Weligama for the perfect south-coast safari pairing.
From £750/night

#2 · Uga Escapes
Chena Huts by Uga Escapes
Chena Huts is the most comfortable Yala safari property — fourteen cabins with private plunge pools, set in a coconut grove between the park boundary and a wild ocean beach. The cabins are larger and more comfortable than the tents at Wild Coast; the trade-off is the architecture is less distinctive. Excellent for travellers who want safari without compromising on a real bed and a real shower.
From £820/night, all-inclusive

#3 · Yala, South-East
Leopard Trails Yala
Leopard Trails is the camp for travellers who came for the leopards. The naturalist team is the most experienced in Sri Lanka — most have spent more than a decade tracking individual cats by name. Mobile tents with proper en-suite bathrooms, private dining, two game drives a day in Block 1. Less of a 'resort' feel than Wild Coast or Chena Huts; more of a serious wildlife expedition.
From £680/night, all-inclusive
