Adam's Peak (Sri Pada) is the island's sacred mountain — a 2,243-metre conical summit climbed by Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Muslim pilgrims through the night between December and May, to watch the sunrise from the rock-cut footprint at the summit.
- Day 1 — Acclimatise. Arrive in Hatton/Dalhousie, light afternoon, early dinner and bed by 9pm.
- Day 2 — The climb. Begin at 2am, summit for sunrise, descend by 9am, sleep through the morning.
- Day 3 — Recovery. Slow morning, transfer back to Hatton, Kandy or onward.
