Gal Oya is the country's only safari done by boat — a vast reservoir in the eastern interior where wild elephants swim between forested islands. It is one of the most distinctive wildlife experiences in South Asia, and almost completely undiscovered.

1. Day 1 — Arrival. Transfer in (5h from Kandy), evening orientation.
2. Day 2 — Big day. Dawn boat safari, lunch back at the lodge, afternoon Vedda visit.
3. Day 3 — Onward. Morning rim-walk, transfer to Arugam Bay or Trincomalee.
