The luxury answer: 2 nights.
Haputale clings to a long mountain ridge at 1,400 metres — on a clear morning you can see all the way to the south coast 130km away. It is the most cinematic of the tea-country towns and the gateway to Lipton's Seat and the working tea estates of the Uva valley.
- Day 1 — Arrival. Private transfer from Ella or Nuwara Eliya, sundowners on the cliff.
- Day 2 — Lipton's Seat. Dawn jeep to the lookout, tea factory tour, slow afternoon.
- Day 3 — Train onwards. Reserved carriage on the train to Ella, then onward to the south coast.
