Kitulgala is a small rainforest town in the foothills of the central highlands, on the banks of the Kelani River — Sri Lanka's main white-water rafting venue, and the location of David Lean's Bridge on the River Kwai. It is the natural stop between Colombo and Tea Country.

1. Day 1 — Arrival & rafting. Private transfer from Colombo (2.5h), afternoon white-water rafting.
2. Day 2 — Rainforest. Morning canyoning, lunch riverside, afternoon birdwatching walk.
3. Day 3 — Onward. Transfer on to Hatton, Ella or Kandy.
