Kumana — once Yala East — is a remote dry-zone park on the south-east coast, reached by 4x4 from Pottuvil or by a long drive around Yala. It has the best birdlife in southern Sri Lanka, almost no other jeeps, and a fair chance of leopard.

1. Day 1 — Arrival. Transfer in via Arugam Bay or Yala, afternoon scouting drive.
2. Day 2 — Big day. Dawn safari, picnic breakfast, evening drive.
3. Day 3 — Onward. Final dawn drive, transfer to Arugam Bay or south.
